I established my practice in 2014 without any training in the business of psychology. At that time, I was completing my license and working in a counseling center. I realized quickly that this environment did not fit with how I wanted to work as a woman of color, so I took a leap of faith in building a full-time private practice. As a graduate student contemplating my career, I did not think private practice was a possibility because I did not have the business training. I realized over the years that owning a thriving practice is entirely possible with the business skills and training. After starting my own practice, I’ve shared my ideas and process with colleagues as they developed their own practices.

Having built my own practice from the ground up, I share that knowledge and expertise with other clinicians so that they have the autonomy in building a work environment that is culturally congruent for them, and in doing so, increasing access to mental health care for BIPOC and diverse populations.
